CMIS was formed by Kevin Sleyer in May 1985 when he joined in a joint venture with Long Barker to provide insurance services in Papakura.

Kevin was born in Wanganui and educated @ Wanganui Boys College. Kevin was a keen sportsman playing & representing Wanganui & NZ in Hockey & Cycling.

As an A Grade motor motor mechanic at the age of 21 he was looking for a new challenge and was employed by the AA selling insurance & aa memberships. Finding sales was his forte moving 2 years later to National Insurance as Local Manager Wanganui & then to Auckland to manage CMG fire & general on behalf of National Insurance. Then out to Papatoetoe to manage National South Auckland. It was at this stage that he joined with Long Barker.

CMIS was a large player in the Point Of Sale motor insurance with at one stage employing 19 staff. CMIS now enjoys a loyal client base and now operates from offices located on the north western side of Pukekohe Hill with views back to Auckland over the Manukau Harbour.
